3 Free Ways to Remind Yourself to Drink More Water
You know it’s good for your health. But what’s good for you isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Just look at the children trying to finish their broccoli or adults who can’t stand okras (I’m one of them!). For some people, drinking more water might be something they have to do but can’t bring themselves to do enough.
Rather than chugging a whole lot of water at a time, it might be easier to break it down into smaller mouthfuls. So here are three completely free ways to remind yourself to drink more water throughout the day.
Set a timer
Get creative and set a timer with a trickling water sound or any short ringtone that resembles water. You can always search in the app store for hydration apps that remind you to drink water. Some of these free apps include Water Time Drink Tracker & Reminder and My Water – Daily Water Tracker.

Mark your bottle
If you drink from a bottle, it might help to mark how much water you plan to drink by what time each day. You can use a marker or even put a sticker as a label. There are plenty of water bottles with time markers on amazon that you can use as reference.
Washroom breaks
For each time you come back from a washroom break, drink a mouthful of water. You can even spice it up by changing the trigger action to something else that happens frequently. It could be whenever you receive a call or every time your colleague asks, “What’s for lunch?”.
To Conclude
Small habits lead to big changes. If drinking more water seems like such a daunting task, it’s okay to break it down into smaller steps. Over time, you will notice the rewarding results when your body feels healthier and that you are happier.
