How to Lift Your Spirits When You Lose Motivation In Life
Ever felt so low that you lose all motivation to do anything? Whether it’s a problem in your relationship or your emotions just spiraling out of control. For those who are feeling powerless and dead inside but are yearning for something to change or some miracle to happen and fuel you with energy, you’re at the right post.
When I’m feeling low, I try to do something I enjoy or something that makes me happy. It could be chatting with a friend, playing some video games, or binge-watching TV series. It’s great when it works.
But that's not always the case.
There are times when I don’t feel like doing anything at all. When I just want to cave in and let my sorrow take over. My brain tells me no. But my body doesn’t want otherwise. Completely sapped me of my motivation, this misery slowly eats me alive.
Overwhelmed by the thought of all the things I could be doing but can’t because I’ve lost all motivation to take action, I end up giving myself even more pressure for being upset. As I slowly lose control over my emotions and rational thinking, and like most adults would, the secret potion of alcohol comes to mind. (Fortunately, I’ve been sober for almost a year now) Drinking seemed like an easier way out of all my troubles, but I also know that it’s not healthy. Thus the reason I stopped drinking my problems away.
That’s when I came across a weird idea to help me feel better WITHOUT the help of alcohol. As simple as it may seem, this is one trick I always turn to when I feel like giving up everything and taking the easy way out (i.e. drinking).
Workout
Yes. Workout. It doesn’t matter what routine you follow as long as you get off your bed and start working out. Stretch your muscles until you can feel it pull (obviously not to the point where you’ll tear a muscle) and push yourself to your limits. Lie on the floor and start doing a plank. You don’t even need to time it. Just keep at it until your body starts shaking and your belly falls flat on the floor.
Does it hurt? Obviously.
But does it help? HELL YEAH!
Why? Because you were able to push your limits with almost zero motivation. And when you wake up tomorrow morning, the pain will remind you that you’re stronger than you were yesterday. You didn’t waste an entire day feeling upset. You turned your sorrow into strength. You’re better and stronger than you were before. Be proud of yourself!
