During work today, I overheard a colleague of mine (I honestly didn’t mean to!) talking over the phone with his friend. He shared with us later that his friend’s job wasn’t going very smoothly and that she was considering other options. Something that he said hit me real hard.
As someone who has a handful of experience with startup companies, he suggested, why not start her own company. With the current COVID-19 situation, there’s no telling when the world will be back to the way it used to be. There’s no guarantee that big companies won’t go down or those small companies will succeed in the market.
He told her, "Just start now."
With a vision and her persistence, all she needed was to take that first step.
We often give ourselves countless excuses to not quit the job that stresses us daily or to find that job we’re passionate about, even though the pay might not be as good. But with all the changes going on in the world right now, hidden opportunities arise. Those who are constantly on the lookout will surely find them. All that’s left is to hop on the idea and strive.
Before, we might worry that large companies will continue to dominate the market. This, however, might not be the case anymore with the attack of COVID-19. The fundamentals of a company might be shaken, the vision blurred. The problem-solving skills and flexibility of companies are put to test as they tackle the challenges brought by COVID-19. Big players are going down if they’re not quick to think on their feet.
On the other hand, we individuals have nothing to lose when starting a new business now. In fact, we can take advantage of the fluctuating market and find a niche, the golden opportunity that will make our company successful. You just need a clear vision and that burning desire to persistently fuel your plans and actions.
To Conclude
If you’ve always wanted to start a business or bigger, to change the world but never got the push, now is the time. With COVID-19 being the trigger, there’s no better time to start than right now. Take out your drawing board and let’s start brainstorming!

Hello! Thanks for the comment. Running a blog does require a certain amount of effort but once you set it up, it’s only the content and engagement that takes time. Don’t worry about programming because there are plenty of CMS (like WordPress) that makes the setup code-free. As for suggestions, it would be great to make sure the site is user-friendly and that your content is consistent to your initial purpose. Hope this helps!
